Product Description
DPAS II is based on Charlotte Danielson's Framework for Teaching and focuses on five domains: planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, professional responsibilities, and student improvement. Teachers are given a list of evidence that can be used for each domain. Teachers set goals in collaboration with evaluators. Aspects of the evaluation include an initial student improvement conference and observations. The successful Delaware Race to the Top application indicates that the current performance review system will be revised in order to take into account student achievement.

General Target Population Information
Delaware teachers are required to be evaluated every year. New teachers in their first two years of teaching are summatively evaluated every year. Experienced teachers are summatively evaluated every other year and formatively evaluated the other years.

Research and Resources
Reports have been written on each year of implementation and have been used to improve the system. The system is based on Charlotte Danielson's research-based Framework for Teaching.

The Delaware Department of Education provides guides for administrators and teachers, form templates, and videos. The system was rolled out in 2006, which was considered a pilot year. The successful Delaware Race to the Top application indicates that the current performance review system will be revised in order to take into account student achievement.
