The maps created for the Atlas of the Education rely on publically available state and national data sources, such as state departments of education, NCES Common Core of Data and Census 2000. The maps provide geographic representation of patterns in school- and district-level data. These maps do not provide or imply causal links or relationships in the data. The maps present data, and do not provide analysis. For further information on the sources and definitions of variables, please see the footnotes at the bottom of each of the maps.
