June 1, 2005
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS—Dr. Willard Daggett, president of the International Center for Leadership in Education, will deliver the keynote address on achieving high academic standards for all students—at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at the Sofitel in Rosemont, Illinois—for the final North Central Eisenhower Mathematics and Science Consortium Advisory Board and State Teams meeting. In addition, he will conduct a professional development session expanding upon the topic on Wednesday, June 15. Dr. Daggett will focus on the effective use of data to drive instruction and how new technologies will impact the need for advanced academic skills.
"We couldn't think of a more appropriate speaker to deliver the final address to our board members and state teams," stated Barbara Youngren, director of the North Central Eisenhower Mathematics and Science Consortium at Learning Point Associates. "Dr. Daggett's work with education reform aligns with the work we currently conduct through Learning Point Associates."
The North Central Eisenhower Mathematics and Science Consortium has delivered research-based technical assistance to more than 2,500 educators throughout the North Central region and has distributed more than 27,000 high-quality products.
Part of Learning Point Associates, this group is well known for helping schools and districts develop curriculum frameworks aligned with state standards; review, select, and implement curriculum materials; implement instructional strategies; introduce and implement Lesson Study; and collaborate on school improvement planning.
"As I work with the nation's most successful schools, I am finding an increased focus on math and science," Dr. Daggett said. "The work of the Eisenhower Mathematics and Science Consortia is a great example of how to do this well."
