Dual Board Positions Align With Vision and Mission of Learning Point Associates

March 24, 2005

NAPERVILLE, ILLINOIS—The North Central Regional Educational Laboratory (NCREL®), one of the 10 regional educational laboratories funded by the U.S. Department of Education and whose work is conducted by Learning Point Associates, recently announced that Jeff Miller will serve as chairman of the Board of Directors. The unanimous vote of affirmation of the appointment came at the quarterly NCREL Board of Directors meeting held February 15–16, 2005, in Rosemont, Illinois. Miller has been an active NCREL board member since July 2003; he was recommended for membership by Dr. Suellen Reed, Indiana's chief state school officer.

"We are pleased to have Jeff serve as the chairman of the NCREL Board of Directors," said Cathy Gunn, Ph.D., executive director of NCREL. "His leadership positions over the past 25 years with Junior Achievement, his dedication to education, and his involvement on this board make him the ideal leader for the Board of Directors." Gina Burkhardt, CEO of Learning Point Associates added, "The NCREL board also selected Jeff to serve as the liaison between NCREL and the Board of Directors for Learning Point Associates. This is the perfect choice because it will help keep the vision and mission of the organization consistent and focused."

Miller's overall experience encompasses 28 years of consistent leadership in for-profit business, consulting, and nonprofit administration. During his business career, Miller has owned and served as president and CEO for several for-profit businesses, has been involved in many business start-ups, and has served in senior leadership and board positions in for-profit companies.

Miller was elected and served as mayor of Reading, Michigan. He currently serves as the president and CEO of Junior Achievement of Central Indiana, located in Indianapolis, Indiana; and he is president and CEO of the new Center for Experiential Learning and Entrepreneurship. In addition to his service to NCREL and Learning Point Associates, he has served on countless civic boards and task forces and is a 27-year member of Rotary International. He has been recognized with numerous awards and distinctions for exceptional leadership and management effectiveness over the years.
