The Striving Readers Initiative, proposed by President Bush, seeks to support underachieving high school students. This initiative focuses on determining the effectiveness of intervention programs and provides for strong dissemination of the information gathered from this research. This initiative was funded for the 2005 fiscal year at $24.8 million.
