District and School Improvement
Schools across the country are failing to meet the educational needs of hundreds of thousands of students.
They are struggling to teach students at grade level and often have the most difficulty reaching students with the greatest disadvantages—those who are learning English as a second language, have disabilities, and are low-income. Students who most need a shot at a quality education to set their lives on a different path are being left behind.
Learning Point Associates knows that students who succeed in school can succeed in life. Our staff collaborates with committed educators to turn around districts and their schools so that every student has the opportunity to find his or her learning point.
We consult with states, working together to provide education agencies and policy makers with the tools they need to improve the performance of their schools and districts. We collaborate with individual districts and schools to develop customized solutions that will stick and set a course for change. Our focus includes building comprehensive professional development plans, designing and implementing literacy initiatives, conducting program evaluations, and using data to inform decision-making. We work with a wide range of clients in foundations, business, and federal, state, and local education agencies, many of whom come back to work with us again on other projects.
Improving Student Achievement
Learning Point Associates takes a three-pronged approach to improving student achievement in schools and districts:
- We offer direct professional services to districts and schools through data workshops to coach educators on using data to enact reforms and through comprehensive district improvement audits to create research-based improvement strategies
- Our staff consults directly with state education agencies on the issues they have determined are critical to improving district performance. Learning Point Associates administers Great Lakes East and Great Lakes West, two of the 16 regional comprehensive centers funded by the U.S. Department of Education to provide technical assistance to states in their efforts to improve student achievement.
- The Center for Comprehensive School Reform and Improvement, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, provides research-based strategies, information and assistance to all educators seeking to implement reforms.
