Think with Us: Compare and Contrast
The question was...
How can you create partnerships between the after-school staff and school staff?
What others do:
Our after-school staff is a blend of regular school staff and after-school staff. We try to schedule regular meetings to discuss the partnership and ask ourselves and each other what needs improvement. Finding meeting time is hard, so we use e-mail on a daily basis to keep everyone informed and not let things fall through the cracks. Ultimately, we share a common vision for the students. There's a lot of mileage in remembering that.
-- John Hill, Program Director, Community Learning Center (CLC), Big Rapids Middle School
A good relationship between the after-school staff and the regular school staff is very important in a school as big as Esperanza. We meet together regularly. The after-school coordinator checks in with teachers during the day to find out and keep track of what the students need. She is also available to help relay messages between the regular school-day teachers and the parents at the end of the day.
