Developer
The system was developed by the Tennessee State Department of Education, Division of Teaching and Learning.

Product Description
The assessment system includes a self-assessment that considers student achievement data, possible submission of a lesson/unit plan, a classroom observation, and a future growth plan. Six domains are described in the Framework for Evaluation and Professional Growth: planning, teaching strategies, assessment and evaluation, learning environment, professional growth, and communication. The Tennessee Evaluation Advisory Committee will create new teacher evaluation guidelines this summer, as a response to new legislation passed as the state pursued (and won) federal Race to the Top funding. The new system will require 35 percent of a teacher's evaluation to come from the Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System.

General Target Population Information
