Product Description
OECD created the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) to compare teaching and learning in various countries. Teachers in lower secondary grades and principals at their schools in OECD countries were asked to complete a questionairre that was compared with the data from the 70,000 other educators who participated. Teachers in 24 countries were surveyed, with 200 schools in each country randomly sampled (if the country was large enough) and 20 teachers in each school surveyed. The survey took about 45 minutes to complete and covered topics concerning professional development, teacher beliefs and attitudes, teacher evaluation and feedback, teacher practice, and school leadership. The surveys were not developed to evaluate individual teachers. They were used to assess the working conditions teachers experience; teacher practices, beliefs, and attitudes; and the professional development needs of teachers.
