This product was developed by ETS for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing in collaboration with California educators.

Product Description
California passed legislation (SB2042) in 1998 that required teacher candidates enrolled in credential programs to complete a teaching performance assessment to obtain a preliminary teaching credential. The performance assessments are subject-specific portfolios of teaching (called “teaching events”) with a set of integrated tasks through which teachers document their planning, teaching, assessing, and reflecting based on a series of lessons. Teaching events and scoring rubrics are aligned with the California Teacher Performance Expectations for preservice teachers. They focus on the assessment of individual students’ needs and student learning outcomes as the basis for teachers to evaluate the success of their teaching decisions.
