Chicago—The Learning Point Associates Board of Directors appointed Donna Gerardi Riordan, DGR Associates, as its newest director last week while meeting in Chicago. Most recently, Gerardi Riordan was the director of programs for the California Council on Science and Technology (CCST) where she worked to analyze and develop policy recommendations to improve K–12 science and mathematics education. Her work focused on reinforcing 21st century skills—especially related to mathematics and science—to enhance the workforce of the future

“Ms. Gerardi Riordan is an outstanding addition to our Board of Directors,” said Gina Burkhardt, CEO at Learning Point Associates. “Her experience in science and technology policy and research, coupled with her passion for ensuring that the best available research, strategies, and resources reach decision makers and practitioners, adds value and expertise to our organizational goals in this arena.”

Prior to Gerardi Riordan’s position at CCST, she established the Office on Public Understanding of Science at the National Academy of Sciences. She is a board member of MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement) and the National Girls Collaborative. She is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She earned her M.A. in science, technology, and public policy from the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University.
