What Makes a Quality Afterschool Program?

With more working parents looking for ways to keep their children safe while they learn and develop skills in the hours after school ends, families are searching for quality afterschool programs. A quality program is not just supervised leisure. Instead, it offers a variety of choices as well as interaction with the community, builds real-life skills, and works together with schools, according to Robert Stonehill, Ph.D., chief program officer at Learning Point Associates and former deputy director in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Elementary and Secondary Education.
