National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality Names New Deputy Director
Tricia Coulter, Ph.D., has joined Learning Point Associates as the deputy director of the National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality (TQ Center). Dr. Coulter has 10 plus years of experience in education research and policy at the state and national level.
Dr. Coulter is a tremendous asset to the TQ Center and the educator quality team at Learning Point Associates and brings with her extensive experience in policy analysis and technical assistance. She is responsible for providing content and administrative oversight for the work of the TQ Center in collaboration with the TQ Center director. Dr. Coulter will contribute to the overall management and growth of the educator quality work at Learning Point Associates.
"Tricia Coulter has an impressive background in teacher and leadership policy, and we are pleased that she is now a part of the Learning Point Associates team," said Sabrina Laine, Ph.D., chief program officer and director of the TQ Center. "Her experience spans higher education, state, and federal levels, and her strong knowledge-base will contribute to the work of the TQ Center and the educator quality team."
Dr. Coulter earned her doctorate in counseling and educational psychology with a specialty area in consultation from the University of Nevada.
The TQ Center was created to serve as a national resource to which the regional comprehensive centers, states, and education leaders turn for strengthening the quality of teaching—especially in high-poverty, low-performing, and hard-to-staff schools. The TQ Center provides guidance in addressing specific areas of need, such as special education, thereby ensuring highly qualified teachers are serving students with special needs.
The National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality is one of five national content centers administered by the U.S. Department of Education. The TQ Center, as it is now referred to in its abbreviated form, is a cooperative agreement between ETS, Learning Point Associates, and Vanderbilt University.
