State of Washington Partners With Learning Point Associates to Launch Electronic Individual Learning Plan
Web-Based Tool Helps Districts Across the State Improve Student Achievement

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON & NAPERVILLE, ILLINOISState education officials in Washington today unveiled a new online tool that will help school districts across the state improve student learning and track achievement progress. The new product, called the Electronic Individual Learning Plan, will allow schools to more easily create personalized student learning plans. The product is being demonstrated this week at a Seattle conference sponsored by Washington's Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and will be made available to all Washington school districts during the 2005–06 school year. The Electronic Individual Learning Plan product is the first of a suite of Web-based tools from Learning Point Associates designed to assist school districts in managing standards-based educational systems.
According to Scott Poirier, assistant superintendent for Secondary Education Reform, "The new Electronic Individual Learning Plan represents a big step forward in our efforts to personalize education for Washington students as part of our standards-based education system. This new tool will help our educators plan, monitor, manage, and evaluate student achievement by identifying student needs and the best ways to meet those needs. The online system will also enable schools and districts to more easily meet state accountability requirements and help high school students who are facing new graduation requirements beginning in 2008."
Two hundred districts will begin piloting the Electronic Individual Learning Plan product by February 1. The Electronic Individual Learning Plan product enables teachers to easily establish state-mandated student learning plans for high-school students and longitudinally track each student's progress toward meeting state learning standards. In addition to saving time and resources, the tool enables teachers to more easily manage student learning plans for groups and subgroups of students.
