Project Description

Two urban middle schools, Dixon and Farrer, in Provo City School Disrict have formed partnerships with local community agencies, universities and organizations to establish ACT 21st Century Community Learning Centers. These learning centers provide inclusive and supervised services for students and families during out-of-school times. Expanded learning opportunities for at-risk students assist them in meeting state and local standards in reading and math. This past year we have had significant change of leadership at the district, project and center level. Currently we are studying the grant proposal and plan to do some restructuring. The most significant change in circumstances will be the closing of Farrer Middle School at the end of the school year. Hundreds of students who are being served by 21st CCLC programs will be going to either Dixon or Centennial Middle school. We are working with the SEA to best see how 21st CCLC can follow Farrer students to their new schools.
