Project Description

RGEC, in joint partnership with Albuquerque Public Schools (APS), will operate the CCLC program as a vehicle for enhancing academic achievement, performance and literacy skills among high-risk students and families. This program has three primary objectives: (1) to increase percentage of enrolled students who will meet or exceed state and local academic achievement standards in reading and math; (2) increase percentages of CCLC students who show improvement in attendance, classroom performance and decreased disciplinary actions; (3) enhance CCLC participantsí art skills, cultural awareness and physical fitness levels, which will challenge them to enhance developmental and academic skills that tie to NM state content standards. Increase in funding for 04/05 has allowed for greater focus and services to CCLC adult family members. Some principals continue to be resentful that funding does not go directly to them, acting out in response, although less problematic than 03/04.
