Project Description

Tucson Unified School District operates Community Learning Centers in elementary schools within the district that are plagued by high rates of poverty, discipline problems and academic underachievement. This project will provide extended opportunities for learning in a safe and drug-free environment. The project provides integrated remedial education programs, enrichment programs, recreational and parent education/literacy programs. After the second year of the project, one of the 4 schools involved was closed due to proximity to the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base runway.
