Research Base |
This workshop is heavily reliant on the work of the National Reading Panel and the findings of its extensive 2000 report, Teaching Children to Read: An Evidence-Based Assessment of the Scientific Research Literature on Reading and Its Implications for Reading Instruction. This research calls for explicit instruction based on the essential components of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. |
