Overview and Registration

Join us for a review of emerging research and a collaborative discussion about leading the transformation of struggling schools. The Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Midwest at Learning Point Associates and the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Department at Indiana University are cohosting a one-day conference titled Connecting Research to Practice: Effective Leadership to Transform Struggling Schools. The event will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010, at the Bloomington Monroe County Convention Center in Bloomington, Indiana.

Engage in a conversation with school and district leaders about the recommendations in the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) Practice Guide, Turning Around Chronically Low-Performing Schools, and explore how to apply them to your school or district improvement process. Featured presenters are

  • Sam Redding, Ph.D., executive director of the Academic Development Institute, director of the National Center on Innovation & Improvement, and coauthor of the IES Practice Guide, Turning Around Chronically Low-Performing Schools.

  • Eric Camburn, Ph.D., assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, senior researcher at the Consortium for Policy Research in Education, and a nationally recognized expert on distributed leadership and leadership practices for instructional improvement in struggling schools.

REL Midwest has reserved a block of rooms within walking distance of the convention center at the Hilton Garden Inn-Bloomington for Thursday, June 24, 2010, at a cost of $97 per night plus taxes. Participants are responsible for securing their hotel reservations and, if necessary, canceling those reservations. You will be asked to reserve the room with your credit card.

Mention that you would like a room in the REL Midwest at Learning Point Associates block of rooms for the event on June 25, 2010. Hotel reservations must be booked by Monday, May 24, 2010.

Hotel Reservations

 I do not need a hotel reservation.
